Happening in Fulton: Sadie G. Mays Health & Rehabilitation Center Celebrates 79 Years of Service
Fulton County celebrated the 79th anniversary of Sadie G. Mays Health & Rehabilitation Center. Hear more from Sadie G. Mays Center Director Shirley Coleman. It was founded in 1947, March 24th by Mrs. Sadie Gray Mays. She was a social worker, she was a professor, and she was the wife of Dr. Benjamin E. Mays, who everyone knows was a renowned educator and longtime president of Morehouse College. So we're celebrating being here and serving our community for all these 79 years. We wanted to get the perspective of everyone who's part of the community, you know, as many as we could here at Sadie Mays. We have our residents band, Sadie's Divine Community Choir that sang. Then we had our commissioners who were very well represented here. For our entertainment we have the jazz band from Kipp Atlanta Collegiate School, which is right around the corner. We're neighbors, and they have a fantastic music program. We also had a family member because we wanted people to know what Sadie Mays means to the families of the people who reside here, how important it is, and how much they value what we do for their loved ones.
